If you feel like mixing it up, the next time you go out for food with your family, instead of settling for fast food, take your kids to a steakhouse (such as Bardi's Steak House). Most steakhouses carry very similar fair to fast food restaurants – fries and burgers. It should be pretty easy to find something on the menu for your kids to enjoy. To save money and provide your child with more choices, considering ordering one of the following appetizers as a meal for your child.

Your kids probably don't need to consume a whole adult-sized restaurant meal. If the restaurant you are at doesn't have a kid's menu, or has a very limited kids menu, consider ordering something off the appetizer menu for your kids. Most appetizers can even be split between at least two kids.

If your child rarely finishes a whole hamburger, consider ordering some sliders. Your kids will feel like the sliders were made just for them. They are the perfect size for little hands to pick up and enjoy.

You can easily split this dish between two children, since most slider appetizers come with at least three or four sliders. Order a side of fries, or share your own with your kids, and you've got a complete meal.

Chicken Tenders

You can explain to your children that chicken tenders are basically really big chicken nuggets. Most kids dig any food that is breaded, as long as they have either ranch or ketchup to dip it in.

Another advantage of ordering chicken tenders is they usually come with a small side of fries as well.

If your kids love nachos, consider ordering the nachos off the appetizer menu for them. Generally, the nacho dish is so large, it takes a couple adults to finish it off, so it should provide more than enough food for two or three young kids.

Considering how big most nacho platters are, you can probably enjoy some nachos with your kids as well.

Many bar and grills now also carry quesadillas on their appetizer menus. You can get a simple cheese quesadilla for your kids. Or you can beef up the quesadilla with a little chicken or beef.

The next time you take your kids out to eat, stop by your favorite steakhouse. Don't feel like you have to stick to the kid's menu either. Most appetizers can easily be turned into an entire meal for your kids to share.
